Los mecanismos de leva juegan un papel muy importante en la ingeniería mecánica para la transformación del movimiento rotatorio en oscilante. La aplicación más habitual de los mecanismos de leva es el accionamiento de válvulas en la construcción de motores. Este caso de aplicación es muy dinámico: las válvulas se deben abrir y volver a cerrar en el menor tiempo posible. Para ello, no se debe perder el contacto entre la válvula y una leva, de lo contrario se producirían fenómenos vibratorios incontrolados, el denominado flotado de válvula, con posibles daños en el motor como consecuencia.
El equipo de ensayo GL 112 permite el análisis dinámico de un mecanismo de leva con diferentes números de revoluciones. Se comparan cuatro levas típicas con sus palpadores adecuados en relación con sus pautas de movimiento.
Una masa y un muelle simulan la válvula. Mediante la variación de la rigidez del muelle, el pretensado del muelle y la masa oscilante se pueden analizar los límites dinámicos de las correspondientes levas. Con ayuda de un estroboscopio (no incluido en el volumen de suministro) es posible mostrar claramente tanto el desarrollo del movimiento como el levantamiento de levas.
Un dispositivo de escritura sincronizado con la leva traza la curva de elevación real del mecanismo de leva. Un motor de accionamiento regulado por el número de revoluciones con un gran peso oscilante genera un número de revoluciones lo más constante posible. La construcción abierta permite visualizar cómodamente el desarrollo del movimiento en todos los elementos.
El funcionamiento seguro queda garantizado gracias a una cubierta protectora transparente. El equipo de ensayo está determinado para la demostración en la formación técnica. No es apto para la utilización como banco de pruebas en el área de ensayos a largo plazo/tribología.
