The experimental section of the flume HM 163 can be extended stepwise by 2,5m by adding extension elements. The maximum length is 12,5m. The extension elements are mounted during the setup of the experimental flume. It is not possible to install them at a later date.
The side walls of the elements are made of tempered glass, which allows excellent observation of the experiments. Each element is fitted with ten evenly spaced threaded holes on the bottom for installing models or for water level measurement using pressure. Guide rails are mounted above the side walls for the optionally available instrument carrier HM 163.59.
For experimental sections with a length of 10m, an additional water tank HM 163.20 is required to ensure that there is always sufficient water available. For an experimental section of 12,5m, two additional watertanks HM 163.20 are required.
